NIE Las Palmas: two addresses in the city, two more in the south

Luis Doreste Silva for the number, Plaza de la Feria for European residents and the TIE, and in the south two police stations of their own, Maspalomas and Santa Lucía, each with its own list: we find where your procedure is listed, prepare the forms and the 790-012 with you, and help you book the cita previa.

  • EU registration and TIE: Plaza de la Feria 24

Three doors

Find your door first

Gran Canaria draws a mixed crowd: remote workers who settle near Las Canteras, students at the university, families from Latin America and West Africa, and Nordic and British residents who spend the winter, or the whole year, in the south. Sooner or later each of them needs a NIE, the number by which the Spanish administration knows a foreign national.

On this island the number and the residence card are not always issued at the same address, and the north and the south each have their own offices. Before anything is booked, three choices matter most: which form, which line of the 790-012 to mark, and which office. We make them with you, one at a time.

North and south

NIE Gran Canaria: the offices of the island

The north and the south of Gran Canaria each have their own offices: in the city, Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68 handles the number and Plaza de la Feria 24 the Europeans and the TIE cards. In the south, the Comisaría de Maspalomas handles the NIE and the TIE, and the Comisaría de Santa Lucía de Tirajana those two plus the EU procedures.

How we work

Four boards on one rail

  1. Step 1: Write to us in a few lines

Your nationality, where you live or will live on the island, and what the papers are for: a job, a home, a course, a partner. From that, we can name your procedure.

  2. Step 2: We match the procedure to the office

You get a short list back: the EX form that applies, the box that fits your case on the 790-012 fee form, the documents to gather, and the office on Gran Canaria that handles your procedure. We fill in the forms with you.

  3. Step 3: We look for the cita previa

We search the booking system for the province of Las Palmas for a date at an office on the island that suits you, and we read the confirmation with you before you count on it.

  4. Step 4: You go with a checked folder

Before the day, we go through every paper once more and send you a note: the address, the time, the order of your documents and the questions an officer may put to you. When it is done, we point you to the next step.

Oficina de Extranjería · Las Palmas

Extranjería Las Palmas: which office lists your procedure

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, policia.es lists NIE assignment at Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68, and EU registration, the TIE, students and non-lucrative residence at Plaza de la Feria 24. In the south, the Comisaría de Maspalomas and the Comisaría de Santa Lucía de Tirajana list NIE procedures too. Work and residence permits are decided by the Oficina de Extranjería on Plaza de la Concordia 5. We help people all over the island, from Las Canteras and Vegueta to Telde, Arucas, Maspalomas and Mogán.

By guagua to the offices

Guaguas Municipales, the city’s public bus company, has two stops named after Plaza de la Feria: “Dr. Waksman (pl. de La Feria)” on lines 11, 25 and L3, and “León y Castillo (pl. de La Feria)” on lines 1 and L1; its pages do not say how far they are from number 24. No official source names a stop for Luis Doreste Silva 68, Plaza de la Concordia 5 or the stations of the south, so plan those trips from the address on your booking.

NIE offices on Gran Canaria

Your padrón at the town hall

In the city, the Ayuntamiento de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria keeps the padrón at its citizen offices, the central one at Calle León y Castillo 270 (Metropol). Appointments are booked online or on 010, or you can register online with a digital signature; it is free. Elsewhere on the island, each municipality keeps its own: San Bartolomé de Tirajana for Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, Mogán for Arguineguín.

Why people write to us

Help you can read from start to finish

  • The right desk before the right date

On Gran Canaria the number, the green certificate and the card are not always listed at the same address. We first find the office that handles your procedure, and only then look for the appointment.

  • Words you can follow

English is a second language for many of the people who write to us, so we write simply. When a Spanish term matters, such as trámite or resguardo, we say what it means straight away.

  • A folder read twice

Each document is compared with what your procedure asks for while there is still time to fix it: a missing copy is easy to print at home and impossible to produce at the counter.

  • Clear about who decides

Only the authorities decide on your papers: the police, the immigration office, the town halls. A private service like ours prepares you for them, and tells you plainly when a question needs a lawyer or a tax adviser.

A long Canarian wooden balcony on a white lime-washed house in Las Palmas: slender dark wooden posts holding a deep roof edged with clay tiles, a railing of turned balusters above panelled sides, the whole resting on carved wooden corbels, set against grey basalt quoins and window frames, with a pale blue latticed shutter on the neighbouring house, under a bright blue sky
The site is drawn from the carved wooden balconies of Vegueta and Triana, because a good balcony lets you see the street clearly without stepping into it, and that is what each page tries to do for your procedure.

Where Las Palmas will ask for your NIE

  • A remote-work base near Las Canteras
  • A season in a hotel in Maspalomas or Playa del Inglés
  • A degree or a master’s at the ULPGC
  • Winters, or retirement, in the south of the island
  • An apartment bought in Mogán or Arguineguín
  • Joining a European partner who lives here
  • A family settling in Las Palmas from Venezuela or Colombia
  • Fingerprints for a first TIE card

Beyond our window

When your move needs more than an appointment

We work on four things on Gran Canaria: NIE numbers, green certificates, TIE cards and padrón registrations. Two independent private firms cover what lies outside that: a visa organised before you leave home, or a NIE requested without the journey. Neither firm is part of the administration, and we are not either.
